OverviewAspiro Healthcare is looking for an experienced and passionate Safeguarding and Care Coordinator Lead to lead safeguarding processes across five GP practices in Derby. This leadership role balances empathy with efficiency and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment. You will work closely with GPs, Clinical Safeguarding Leads, and external partners to ensure safeguarding practice is compliant, proactive, and patient-centred. You will oversee safeguarding cases including children, adults at risk, and domestic abuse survivors, and lead improvements in policy, practice and training to safeguard patients.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate all safeguarding activity across Aspiro''s Derby practices.

Manage safeguarding team workload and provide day-to-day oversight of referrals, alerts and ongoing cases.

Ensure systems (e.g., SystmOne) are up to date with safeguarding alerts, flags and codes.

Organise and minute safeguarding meetings and multi-disciplinary reviews.

Produce regular reports and performance dashboards for governance purposes.

Act as liaison between Aspiro and external agencies including social care, ICS, LSCP, and secondary care.

Provide safeguarding induction and refresher training to staff.

Maintain compliance with GDPR, safeguarding law, and Derbyshire ICS protocols.

Support inspection readiness and continuous quality improvement in safeguarding.

Job Responsibilities / Job Role and PurposeThe Safeguarding Care Coordinator will lead and coordinate all safeguarding activity within Aspiro Healthcare''s Derby practices. This role is pivotal in enhancing and overseeing safeguarding for children, young people and vulnerable adults. It requires collaboration with clinicians, administrative teams, external agencies and community partners to ensure timely, robust and compliant safeguarding processes, with a focus on continual service improvement, data integrity and staff support for identifying, escalating and managing safeguarding concerns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Safeguarding Oversight and Coordination: manage the safeguarding team, ensure compliance with safeguarding processes and protocols, oversee safeguarding enquiries, alerts and referrals, and maintain up-to-date read codes and alerts in the practice system (e.g., SystmOne).

Triage inbound safeguarding information and escalate to the Practice Safeguarding Lead or relevant clinician; coordinate monthly/quarterly safeguarding reports for governance meetings (including trends analysis).

Administration and Meeting Management: organise regular multidisciplinary safeguarding meetings; record actions and track to completion; manage safeguarding inboxes and secure records in line with GDPR.

Communication and Liaison: build relationships with internal teams and external agencies; advocate for vulnerable patients and provide information to patients and families about safeguarding processes.

Data Management and Reporting: maintain safeguarding records, generate data for audits and inspections, identify data-quality issues and drive corrective action.

Training, Development and Service Improvement: deliver induction and ongoing safeguarding training; identify and implement improvements to pathways and processes; participate in audits and case reviews.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: ensure activity adheres to national guidance and local protocols; support inspection readiness and address safeguarding actions from inspections.

Training and Certifications / ComplianceDisclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. Post is subject to safeguarding and confidentiality requirements in line with Aspiro policies.

Qualifications and ExperienceExperience

Essential: At least 2 years in a healthcare setting with safeguarding experience (e.g., managing referrals, alerts, multi-agency work); proven ability to organize and minute multidisciplinary meetings; experience maintaining clinical databases and producing senior-level reports; ability to work under pressure with competing priorities.

Desirable: Prior management experience; experience as a safeguarding administrator/coordinator within a Primary Care Network or GP practice; familiarity with Derbyshire ICS safeguarding pathways and LSCP protocols.

Qualifications

Essential: Minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in health/social care administration; evidence of safeguarding training (Level 2/3).

Desirable: Certificate in safeguarding; IT qualifications; NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Business Administration.

Desirable: Willing to travel across Derby practices for meetings or training; commitment to ongoing professional development.
