The project:We are looking for an experienced sustainability manager to support our Mace construction aviation projects primarily at Heathrow and Gatwick, working 5 days per week. The successful candidate will join the existing responsible business team and deliver onsite environment services, for Mace''s construction division. The role will also support Mace’s wider corporate ambitions to reduce client carbon emissions by 10 million tonnes by 2026 and deliver £1.3bn of value to society by 2030.

You’ll be responsible for:

Being a focal point for sustainability within the Aviation part of the business unit, and primarily at Heathrow.

Delivering the sustainability strategy and programme across the business unit, addressing client and Mace sustainability ambitions, strategy and targets.

Working with projects from early involvement through to delivery, to identify and embed carbon and circularity savings.

Identifying innovative approaches to bring to the client and projects.

Working with project teams to ensure environmental compliance, alignment with ISO 14001, and efficiency on the construction projects.

Working with the supply chain on how they can contribute to delivering sustainable outcomes.

Delivering training to upskill the Mace project teams.

Engaging with the client and where necessary, contributing to client sustainability working groups addressing challenges such as waste and carbon reduction.

Working with the wider Mace Construct sustainability teams to develop the Mace sustainability service and maintain Mace as a leader in the industry.

Managing data quality (i.e. QA the data sets) and identifying insights that you can act upon.

Managing the monthly monitoring and reporting requirements for projects and submit to the client where necessary.

Attending client meetings and project review meetings to report outputs, issues and risks around socio-economic targets.

Identify and produce case studies to assist with communicating best practice.

You’ll need to have:

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Understanding and experience of whole life carbon assessment

Understanding of reporting and delivering against social value frameworks.

Experience in developing, and/or implementing environmental management systems on projects.

Knowledge of construction

Understanding and experience of green certification schemes such as BREEAM.

Ability to drive change, lead others and adopt different solutions, act decisively with a passion to achieve results.

Effective problem solving and negotiating skills.

Solid administration and IT skills – advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Ability to liaise with people at all levels.

Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders.

Be self-motivated and able to self-manage.

Empathetic listening skills.

Reliable and committed.

Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible approach to different work environments.

Project management skills.

Proven track record of sustainability work >4 years.
