Job Title: KS1/KS2 HLTA/Teaching Assistant

Location: East of York

Salary: -88.92115

Job Type: Full time

Start Date: September 2025

We are looking for a flexible and experienced HLTA/Teaching Assistant to join a friendly school team for the start of the new academic year in September 2025. This is a temporary role to support classroom cover during the first few weeks of term, with the potential for extension.

The successful candidate will work primarily in Key Stage 1 or 2, providing a mix of 1:1 and general classroom support, as well as HLTA cover for teacher release time/PPA. The role also includes lunchtime supervision duties.

  • Working Pattern (24 hours/week):
  • Monday: 8:45 - 12:10
  • Tuesday: 8:45 - 12:10 & 13:10 - 15:00 (1-hour unpaid lunch)
  • Wednesday: 8:45 - 12:10 & 12:10 - 12:45 (lunch cover)
  • Thursday: 8:45 - 12:00, 12:30 - 13:10 (lunch cover), 13:10 - 14:55 (30-min unpaid lunch)
  • Friday: 8:45 - 12:00, 12:30 - 13:10 (30-min unpaid lunch)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide classroom support to pupils and teachers across Key Stages.
  • Deliver planned lessons and activities during teacher PPA time (HLTA duties).
  • Offer 1:1 or small group support as needed.
  • Assist with classroom organisation and resource preparation.
  • Supervise pupils during lunchtime (minimum 2 duties per week).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant (essential).
  • HLTA experience or qualification (desirable).
  • Confident in leading learning activities and covering classes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, and reliable.
  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
