Assistant Principal Design Engineer

A leading aerospace organisation is seeking an Assistant Principal Design Engineer to join its team at a customer site in Gloucester. This opportunity involves working on advanced landing gear design projects, mentoring fellow engineers, and driving forward innovative design practices and methods.

Key Responsibilities

As an Assistant Principal Design Engineer, you will:

• Lead conceptual studies and recommend effective engineering solutions
• Maintain high technical standards in work package activities
• Serve as a technical focal point and mentor for design engineers
• Attend customer meetings and represent the organisation in technical reviews
• Promote and implement new design tools and techniques
• Work collaboratively with other departments including Engineering, Programmes, Manufacturing, and Test
• Participate in technical audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations

Requirements

To excel in the role of Assistant Principal Design Engineer, you''ll need:

• An engineering qualification (minimum HNC/HND; ideally BSc/MSc)
• Experience using design software, preferably CATIA
• Solid knowledge of aerospace design and manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering challenges
• Familiarity with GD&T and aerospace materials is advantageous
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently in complex environments
