Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst

The RoleIn this role, the individual will work closely with Brokers in the Global Markets Direct and Facultative team. The individual will be required to offer a wide range of analytical services including data management, catastrophe modelling, exposure management, financial modelling, and bespoke analytics. The focus of our service is to provide Brokers with a deeper understanding of their clients’ risk from natural and man-made perils such as windstorm, earthquake, severe convective storm, flood and wildfire.On a day-to-day basis, the successful candidate will be involved in processing and auditing client data, running client portfolios against state-of-the-art internal and external computer models, and synthesising the results. You will be required to take a methodical approach to problem solving and be comfortable with IT. Joining the company with an engineering, maths or natural sciences degree (ideally Masters), they also require the ability to effectively communicate technical detail internally and to external clients who do not necessarily have technical knowledge of the subject.Principle Duties
This is a general summary of the duties the successful candidate will be expected to perform as a part of the team, and your role, you will:Managing, auditing, processing and analysing portfolio dataPreparation of data for modellingQuantify the catastrophe risk using vendor catastrophe modelsOperation of geo-visualisation tools including Arc GISContribute to the Global Markets Direct and Fac Analytics service offering developmentUnderstand and evaluate the impact of updates and revisions to models and the outputs producedCommunicate results effectively to all stakeholders (i.e. cat modellers / brokers / clients/ (re)insurers)Work closely with all stakeholders throughout all aspects of the risk quantification processReal-time reporting and analysis of natural disasters and supporting clients’ post-eventSupport junior members in the team through training and advice.Qualifications
The Requirements
Skills and AttributesAn understanding of London/global insurance markets and (re)insurance businessExcellent working knowledge of at least one vendor model (RMS preferable)Excellent understanding of the underlying perils science and model componentsStrong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detailExcellent IT skills, Power BI an advantageExperience with SQL is essential, R/Python an advantageExperience with process optimisationExperience and working knowledge of GIS software e.g. ArcGIS, an advantageExcellent communication skillsAbility to process and understand data quickly and creativelyThe ability to work in a teamHighly motivated to learn and grow within a global market leaderThe Application Process
