We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic English/Literature Teacher to join a small, dedicated team at a thriving school that supports learners aged 9–16 with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD). The school provides both day and residential placements in a nurturing and supportive environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is looking to make a genuine difference in a specialist setting.

About this English Teacher role:

  • Job Role: Teaching English to KS3/KS4 pupils with SEBD
  • Location: Newport
  • Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
  • Working Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, term time only
  • Contract Length: Permanent, with contract options available

Requirements for this English Teacher role:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English, ideally in a secondary or specialist setting
  • A positive, adaptable approach with a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing
  • SEN/ALN experience (desirable but not essential)
  • A valid right to work in the UK
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS with an update service subscription, or be willing to apply for one
As an English Teacher you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons
  • Support the emotional, social, and academic development of all learners
  • Use effective classroom management strategies tailored to student needs
  • Assess pupils’ progress and contribute to their individual education plans
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team and wider staff
