Lead Architect

OverviewThe Lead Architect will define and lead the enterprise-wide architecture vision for a healthcare client, enabling a unified, scalable, and modular tech platform that supports our digital product strategy and international expansion — particularly across the EU market. This role goes beyond solution delivery. It sets the principles, structure, and systemic coherence across all layers of our digital stack — infrastructure, data, applications, and integrations.
Why This Role Now?
EU Expansion o Harmonise our architecture across markets with differing compliance, data residency, and operational models.
Platform Unification o Converge multiple overlapping platforms and legacy systems into a modular architecture with reusable components.
Digital Acceleration o Support the pace of digital product development without sacrificing control, interoperability, or patient safety.
Cross-Functional Collaboration o Provide a unifying technical voice across Product, Data, Engineering, and Commercial teams.
What We’re Looking For Core Characteristics
Vision and Clarity: Can articulate a future-state architecture that aligns with product and market strategy.
Principles-led Design: Grounded in sound architecture principles — not just driven by tech trends or tooling.
System Thinker: Understands architecture as a system-of-systems — from infrastructure and data to patient-facing UX.
Pragmatic Execution: Designs scalable systems but applies just enough governance. Knows when not to over-engineer.
Strong Collaborator: Confidently influences across disciplines — from Tech Leads and Product Managers to Regulatory and Commercial.
Regulatory Aware: Has designed architectures within regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, pharma, financial services).
Key Responsibilities
Assist Defining and continuously evolving a target architecture that supports: Modular, therapy-agnostic digital PSPs; Expansion into multiple EU jurisdictions; High-quality patient and HCP experiences
Support decision-making around build vs. buy, platform reuse, and 3rd party integrations.
Act as a bridge between strategy and execution — collaborating with delivery teams, the CTO, product, and domain leads.
Drive adoption of architecture principles and modern tooling, including CI/CD, observability, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modular system design.
Oversee architectural governance for: New digital product features; Tech migrations; Multi-market platform deployments; Regulatory risk mitigation
Experience We Value (Application over tools – real-world impact matters more than name-dropping frameworks.)
Designed scalable, modular digital platforms with API-first or MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) architectures.
Led or influenced architecture across multi-region or highly regulated domains, such as pharma, health, or finance.
Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures, ideally Azure (and AWS).
Familiar with MarTech tooling, CRM platforms (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics CRM and ERP), and CMS solutions (headless or composable content platforms).
Delivered architectures with strong data governance, residency awareness, and analytics pipelines.
Collaborated in matrixed organisations, aligning architecture across federated product and engineering teams.
Knows how to drive forward platform architecture in fast-paced, outcome-focused, commercial environments.
How We Will Assess Fit
We will focus on principles, approach, and clarity of thinking — not just technical trivia. Our assessment will look for applied system thinking, architectural judgement, and cross-functional leadership.
