Job ref: MED05281Salary: £49,017 - £57,472 per annumClosing date: 25 SeptemberAbout the roleThe Owen and Barnes labs are recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) for two years, with the possibility of extension for a further two years. The role involves using a range of in vitro and in vivo approaches to investigate how knockout and drug inhibition of the mitochondrial protein TSPO protects against vascular dysfunction in early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.What you would be doingBuilding on positive results in rodent models, we are running a clinical study to test the effect of a TSPO ligand on cerebrovascular function in individuals with early Alzheimer’s disease. The focus of this project is to understand the mechanism by which TSPO ligands protect the vasculature. The postholder will collect and analyse data using various in vitro and in vivo approaches.
