(NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.What you''ll be doing

To ensure commercial and contractual control and co-ordination of the efforts of all parties involved in the execution of a specified project or range of projects. To provide guidance to other members of the Commercial/quantity surveying team and Project Directors/Managers on all aspects relating to commercial activity on a specified project or range of projects.The successful candidate accountabilities will include;Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company HSE procedures and work instructionsAccountable for the activities of any directly reporting quantity surveying staff, including mentoring junior members of the team, and provide advice and guidance to other members of the team and to Project Directors/Managers, as requiredIn conjunction with the relevant Project Management team member, be accountable for the profitability of the project(s), and develop an appropriate commercial strategy for the project(s) to ensure delivery of required marginsContribute to the management and maintenance of a contract cost reporting system, ensuring all financial information is managed and up-to-date and tracked with budget/tender allowances, commitments and deviations highlighted and managedWith other members of the team, produce and provide accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final valueContinually monitor projected costs to completion in line with budgetEnsure that necessary interface information between customer, subcontractors and otherdepartments is provided in a timely mannerPro-actively monitor cash flow and valuation plan, ensuring applications are made correctly and in a timely mannerEnsure contract variations are identified, valued and turned into agreed variation orders with the customer in a timely mannerAssist in ensuring effective records are maintained to support claims and that applications for payment for variations are issued in a timely mannerManage the subcontract tender process, including the selection of sub-contractors and provision of all relevant contract and schedule documentationEnsure that subcontracts are placed in an appropriate manner to step down appropriateresponsibilities from the Main ContractEnsure that each sub-contractor''s account is managed strictly in accordance with their terms and conditionsEnsure that any insurance claims are notified in accordance with CSUK requirements and that appropriate data is compiled for insurance claimsTake an active role in assisting the Project Management team members in arranging and undertaking project reviews and issue of associated reportsProvide accurate monthly reporting of cost and value on the project(s) in line with the Company''s reporting process.Be responsible for the preparation and agreement of final accountsAgree and resolves final accounts with sub-contractorsEnsure compliance with BMS and Group Minimum Commercial ExpectationsWhere appropriate and where used on the specified project, utilise BIM to support progress monitoring, provide commercial reporting and incorporate information to support change management, variations orders and encourage all sub-contractors/supply chain members to integrate their work into BIMLive the Balfour Beatty ValuesEnsure a relentless focus on Zero HarmSupport the delivery of CSUK''s Sustainability activitiesWho we''re looking for

Substantial previous experience in Quantity Surveying within a relevant business environment and a valid CSCS card are required. Membership of a relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification is desirable, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE.The following are essential requirements for the role:Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of ContractDetailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processesSignificant knowledge of construction techniques on particular projectsAbility to apply the knowledge and principles of commercial management to construction projectsWorking knowledge of basic plant, equipment and materialsKnowledge and understanding of sub-contracting principles, together with the ability to draft and administer sub contractsAbility to implement procedures to quantify and cost construction works, including the use of appropriate standard methods of measurementUnderstanding of the requirements to provide and obtain Insurance, Bonds and WarrantiesProficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS OfficePeople management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levelsProven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiativeEnthusiasm and results focus, with an ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlinesEffective negotiation skills with both internal and external customersDemonstrates a passion and excitement for his/her work. Tackles problems head-on and works to resolve them without delay. Willing to go the extra mile to exceed expectations.
