Senior Quantity Surveyor

An experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor is required for a long-term temporary contract in Glasgow. This role offers a unique blend of site-based delivery, commercial oversight, and consultancy input — ideal for a QS with strong NEC contract knowledge who enjoys working closely with both clients and contractors.
You’ll be working on a significant project involving steel and cladding packages, overseeing all commercial aspects from procurement through to final account. The position requires a hands-on approach, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to manage contract administration with confidence.
About the RoleThe role will be largely site-based (up to 4 days per week), with 1 day per week expected in our client''s central office, and the potential for an additional remote working day
Key responsibilities include:
Full commercial management of steel and cladding packages
Administering and managing NEC contracts.
Working closely with contractor teams on-site to ensure accurate forecasting, cost control, and progress reporting
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to resolve commercial queries and disputes
Supporting procurement processes, including subcontractor engagement and contract negotiations
Preparing valuations, cost reports, and final accounts in line with NEC procedures
Ensuring full audit trails and commercial compliance throughout the package lifecycle
You’ll be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a solid track record in NEC contract administration and commercial management of construction packages — ideally in steel, cladding, or other building envelope works.
Essential skills & experience:
Proven experience managing projects under NEC contracts (Option C desirable)
Strong understanding of post contract commercial processes
Experience working directly with contractors on live construction sites
Confident communicator with strong negotiation and reporting skills
Ability to work independently while remaining aligned with wider client objectives
Available for an immediate or near-immediate start
Long-term contract with continuity of engagement through to end of 2026
A balanced work pattern across site, office, and optional remote working
Opportunity to work with both contractor and consultancy teams, gaining a broad range of experience
Desirable day rate/salary depending on experience
