Project Management Graduate Programme

Overview
Project Management at Babcock is a two-year graduate programme built around four six-month placements across the UK. You will work on a wide variety of projects across different sectors, gaining practical skills and building relationships across the business.What will you do on the programme?
You’ll learn how to keep complex work on track while supporting delivery, coordinating with engineering, finance and procurement teams, and helping teams meet critical deadlines. You may shape delivery plans for major defence programmes, manage risks, support bids, or gather updates from colleagues in engineering, finance or procurement. The programme emphasizes developing confidence, awareness and practical project management skills, and building a network across the business.You’ll move between sectors and locations to understand how different parts of the business operate and how they connect. Placements could involve Marine, Nuclear or Land sectors, providing a broad view of the organisation and a launchpad for your career. As you progress, you’ll take on more responsibility and work towards formal qualifications through the Association for Project Management, including the PFQ (Project Fundamentals Qualification) and PMQ (Project Management Qualification), applying what you learn to live projects.Development and support
From day one, you’ll receive structured support and dedicated mentorship. You’ll join our Graduate Development Programme with expert-led masterclasses on communication, personal branding, resilience and wellbeing. We provide guidance toward Chartered status with the Association for Project Management and cover all related fees.Rewards and benefits

You’ll need a 2:2 or above in any degree. We’re particularly looking for graduates in project management, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills such as problem solving, leadership and teamwork.Security clearance considerations: many graduate programmes are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions. For this programme, you must achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), Security Check (SC), and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI) clearance.Location and placement details
The Autumn 2026 programme is part of our Group Graduate Programme. You’ll complete four six-month placements across the business, with current locations including Plymouth, Bristol, Warrington, and Cheltenham in England, and HM Naval Base Clyde and Rosyth in Scotland. Location preferences will be taken into account during the application process, balanced with business needs. Note that most placements and post-scheme roles are in the South West; a small number may be based at Plymouth for the full duration due to sector breadth.How to apply
