Our client, a leading family-owned business specializing in transport and distribution across the UK and Europe, is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their dynamic and growing team. Role Overview: As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and executing collection and delivery schedules in the most cost-efficient and effective manner, aligned with business objectives, customer service expectations, and current legislative requirements. Key Responsibilities: Set up the traffic pad in line with the drivers'' rota, ensuring accurate allocation of drivers to vehicles.Book agency drivers as needed, prioritising in-house resources over subcontractors.Build an efficient traffic plan covering all loads while minimising empty mileage and maximising use of own fleet.Utilise back-load subcontracting when necessary.Request delivery bookings as per the traffic plan.Communicate the plan to drivers via phone or text.Accurately input subcontractor rates into the transport system and send confirmations to subcontractors.Maintain proactive communication with customers to meet service expectations.Review night shift handovers and adjust plans accordingly.Execute plans to meet customer KPIs and internal targets.Manage breakdowns from initial notification through to repair, ensuring stakeholders are ..... full job details .....
