Merton College23/09/2025£39,678 - £47,736 per annum, plus up to 53 days + Bank HolidaysHere at Merton College, we are seeking a Lecturer to provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities.Responsibilities

Act as a Course Leader and take responsibility for students’ study programmes and assessment/ accreditation activities.Participate in curriculum planning and product development as required and deliver and embed Maths and English for SEND to deliver the College’s strategic objectives.Work as part of a team with awareness of current curriculum changes and implications for SEND learning strategies and reforms.Demonstrate knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post-16 sector, including RARPA; apply information technology and assistive technology to teaching and learning strategies.Manage students with challenging behaviour and communicate at a level appropriate to different learning abilities; collaborate with external agencies and participate in assessment and/or IV practices for specialist accreditation.Qualifications and experience

Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).Ideally hold a relevant professional qualification and have experience of working with and understanding the needs of SEND.Able to work in a team; aware of current curriculum changes and implications for SEND learning strategies and delivery.Experience of curriculum development to meet changing demands of the FE sector with evidence of providing effective student support.Experience in managing students with challenging behaviour and using inclusive teaching methods.Knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post-16 sector, including RARPA; familiarity with assistive technology in teaching and learning.The College is committed to providing curriculum content relevant to the vocational aspirations of students and we welcome applications from candidates who are qualified or can offer commercial experience in vocational specialisms.Closing date for the return of completed applications is 23rd September 2025.Benefits and equality
