Project Controls Lead

A vital member of the project delivery team, the Project Controls Lead is responsible for leading and supporting Project Managers in controlling project cost, schedule, and risk across the portfolio. This role involves detailed planning, monitoring, and reporting of multiple technical projects using advanced data analysis, trend evaluation, and forecasting to ensure timely and efficient project completion. The Project Controls Lead will act as the primary point of contact for Project Controls within the portfolio, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment across all workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost- and resource-loaded Primavera P6 project schedules and associated documentation.
- Participate in change control processes, risk analysis, and forecasting to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Liaise effectively with internal teams, clients, and the supply chain to ensure alignment across project milestones.
- Provide performance insights through detailed analysis, including critical path and earned value metrics.
- Support portfolio reporting by updating baselines and contributing to progress reports and client communications.
- Report on the status of portfolio/projects to the PCM, Head of Projects, and Operations Director.
- Conduct resource forecast reviews within the portfolio, escalating any conflicts or opportunities as necessary.
- Provide quality oversight of programmes produced within the portfolio prior to weekly and monthly reporting, both internally and externally.
- Ensure that all work produced within the portfolio meets the NIS Project Controls Standard Requirements document.
- Act as the main Project Controls contact for the portfolio.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Project Controls, budgeting, costing, forecasting, P6 project schedules, and data analysis.
- Lead experience as Senior member, Leader or Manager preferred
- Primavera P6 experience is essential.
- Eligibility for SC Clearance (British National or 5+ years in the UK).
- Experience in the Nuclear industry preferred but not essential.
Location: Chorley
Contract: -60 - -65 per hour LTD (subject to CEST test IR35 assessment) .
Working Hours: 4 day working week! Flexible Hours & Hybrid.
