Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Radiologist with sub-specialty interest in Head and Neck Imaging. There are two posts available, one based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and one based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is a major teaching hospital serving a regional, national and international population. The Trust employs around 20,000 staff across 4 large hospital sites and provides services to a large number of patients annually. The posts involve Head and Neck Radiology with cross sectional reporting, ultrasound of the Head and Neck including FNA and core biopsy, and contribution to a regional Head and Neck MDT. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and proactive Consultant Radiology team. The imaging department at UHB has expanded to more than 90 consultants across 4 main hospital sites. These posts are based at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital and are principally Head and Neck Radiology posts.Key activities include:Cross sectional reporting in Head and Neck radiologyUltrasound of the Head and Neck with FNA and Core biopsyContribution to a regional tertiary Head and Neck MDTAcute imaging/Duty Radiology and on-call commitmentPossibly limited evening or weekend sessions with other radiological colleaguesActive involvement in training Specialist RegistrarsPotential supervision of radiographer extended roles and IV contrast injections as part of a radiographer skill-mixA home workstation will be issued for on-call provisionResponsibilities
Full-time post with 8 direct patient care PAs (based on a 10 PA contract) with flexibility for weekly variations under an annualised hours frameworkSupport clinical colleagues in offering a comprehensive imaging service for the trust and patientsEngage in Head and Neck radiology reporting, MDT involvement, and acute imaging dutiesTimetable of activities to be agreed with the Clinical Director of Radiology before taking up the postQualifications
Full GMC RegistrationEvidence of Continuing Professional Development including CMERCR Fellowship or equivalentSubspecialty training in Head and Neck RadiologyDisclosure and UK Registration
