Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while delivering caring service that exceeds expectations. Technicians work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.As a Technician, you will complete a rigorous training program and must satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements according to your State’s Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until requirements are completed, duties may be restricted by the Pharmacy Manager.Responsibilities include:Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient healthFollow pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off)Deliver a positive patient experience through empathy and genuine care at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services; escalate issues as neededAssist with basic inventory activities and per policy, such as stocking deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stocksContribute to a high-performing team, seek feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledgeRemain flexible for scheduling and business needs; may travel to stores to support the marketComply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacyDeliver additional patient health care services where allowed by law and training (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics)Immunization support (where permissible) includes:Completing licensure/training to obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare/administer vaccinesEducating patients about vaccines and referring questions to the Pharmacist-on-dutyMonitoring for adverse reactions and reporting as requiredReviewing patient information and documenting for applicable patientsMonitoring and managing vaccine suppliesRequired QualificationsMust comply with state board requirements governing the practice of pharmacy (age, education, licensure/certification)If not mandated by the state board, minimum age is 16; high school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in HS/HS equivalencyState-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by stateEssential FunctionsRegular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekendsAbility to complete required training within designated timeframeAttention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks, ensure prescription accuracyCustomer Service and Team Orientation: help people, respond to patient reactionsCommunication: verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues; active listeningMathematical Reasoning: compute totals, day’s supply, and quantitiesProblem Resolution: handle challenging interactions and choose appropriate actionsPhysical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, typing, fine motor tasks, visual acuityAbility to receive and convey detailed information orallyAdditional tasks as directed by Supervisor or ManagerPreferred Qualifications1-3 years of Pharmacy Technician experienceExperience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settingsWillingness to work across the market to meet business needsAnticipated Weekly Hours30Time TypeFull timePay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is $16.00 - $27.00 per hour.
