Head of Projects (Fire and Security/AV)

A respected, independently owned Fire and Security and AV specialist is seeking a Head of Projects to take full ownership of its Project Delivery function.

This is not a Senior Project Manager role, but could be a step up for a Senior Project Manager in these industries.

This is a department leadership position overseeing a live portfolio that can exceed 80 active installations at any one time, with individual project values in the millions of pounds (-).

You will lead multiple Project Managers, own departmental P&L, manage forecasting and reporting, and work closely with the Engineering Director to balance manpower, delivery performance and margin control.

The Role

• Line management of multiple Project Managers
• Oversight of up to 80+ concurrent projects
• Ownership of Projects P&L and forecasting
• Resource and capacity planning
• Governance and delivery standards
• Escalation point for commercial and technical risk
• Senior stakeholder and key client engagement

You are accountable for performance, margin and how the department operates.

This requires someone comfortable switching between strategic oversight and operational involvement when required.

About You

You must come from a Fire and/or Security or Audio Visual background.

You will likely have:

• Progressed from engineering or technical delivery
• Managed Project Managers, not just engineers
• Overseen a large multi project portfolio
• Influenced or owned departmental P&L
• Worked closely with engineering leadership on manpower planning
• Acted as escalation point on drifting projects

This suits a technically credible Fire and Security or AV leader who enjoys running a department, not just projects.
