Job DescriptionPrincipal Mechanical EngineerVertical Recruitment are working closely with a thriving multidisciplinary consultancy. Their projects cover all construction sectors throughout the UK and overseas, from individual dwellings to city master planning projects! They have recently opened a new office in Manchester city centre, with a modern, light, and unique space. They are building their Mechanical Engineering team in the Manchester office and looking for a driven and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer.Reporting to the Director, you will support with the delivery and project management of the Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects, whilst taking the lead providing MandE representation. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of the Mechanical Services design and post-contract implementation whilst supporting junior engineers and assisting with their personal development.You will have strong technical and communication skills and be confident in representing them through direct contact with clients and other design team members.Key Responsibilities:Managing the production of scheme design drawingsLeading on the development of mechanical services strategies and multiple projectsPreparing MandE specifications including environmental strategiesAssisting in the preparation of elemental MandE cost plansInputting to the Stage 2 and 3 MEP ReportsManaging post-contract stage of projects, including flow of information to maintain proposed contract works programmeMonitoring Mechanical Installation works against Mechanical Services DesignAssisting Project QS in cost controlEstablishing project briefs/fees/timescales and ensuring junior personnel are awareProviding technical support to junior engineers and techniciansPreparing Mechanical Services Scheme Design proposalsAbout You:Degree qualified and ideally working towards chartered statusProven project experienceStrong record in project management, delivery, and qualityPeople skills and demonstrable management and client-facing skillsCapable of working with own initiative to provide solutions to engineering and management challengesHold a valid UK Driving Licence (preferable)Be prepared to travel to meetings and projects, as necessaryGenerally local to contracted office, but occasional work in other parts of the UK and Europe or overseas may necessitate an overnight stay.Ideally with experience in the use of all necessary design software not limited to those identified below: CAD, Revit, Bluebeam.Benefits:33 days holiday, including public holidays and time between Christmas and New Year + Long Service Holiday increaseAdditional annual leave purchase scheme (up to 1 week)Salary exchange pension with Aviva HH currently 5% and EE 3% minPay for 1 professional membership per yearEV leasingEnhanced Mat/Pat etc (after 18 months service)DIS 3x salary1 charitable works day off per yearHybrid working policyThey offer an industry-leading environment of engineering experts and the chance to work on a huge range of projects and sectors throughout the UK.
