Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant to join their expanding Manchester team.

Our client is a leading organisation working at the forefront of major UK infrastructure and development projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented environmental professional to step into a key role within a dynamic, supportive consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

As a

Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant , you will:Lead and coordinate environmental inputs across a range of high-profile infrastructure, regeneration, and development projects.

Manage the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Statements (ES), and related planning documentation.

Oversee project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

Provide strategic advice to clients on environmental planning, permitting, and compliance.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across planning, ecology, heritage, transport, and engineering disciplines.

Support junior staff through mentoring and technical review.

Contribute to business development, including writing proposals, identifying opportunities, and expanding client relationships.

About You:

To be successful in this

Senior / Principal Environmental Consultant

role, you will ideally have:A relevant environmental or related degree, with chartered status (IEMA, CEnv, or similar) preferred.

A strong track record in managing EIA projects within the UK planning system.

Excellent technical knowledge of environmental planning and relevant UK legislation.

Strong communication and report writing skills, with the ability to lead client conversations and contribute to commercial decision-making.

A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage and support a growing team.
