SOCOTEC UK and IrelandAt SOCOTEC, we are seeking an exceptional leader to join our Building and Real Estate Division in a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing our Building Regulations and Compliance Consultancy services. This pivotal position will ensure operational excellence and drive business growth within one of our core services areas
Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement business unit strategy and budget aligned with the Building and Real Estate Division''s goalsDrive operational excellence across all building regulation and compliance consultancy projectsLead and develop high-performing technical teams to deliver exceptional client service
Operational Management:
Oversee Building Regulations and Compliance Consultancy projects from inception to completionManage resources efficiently to meet company financial targets and quality objectivesEnsure adherence to SOCOTEC''s terms and conditions, policies, and quality assurance systemsMaintain operational control of the customer base for allocated teams
Technical Expertise:
Ensure compliance with building regulations and associated statutory legislationProvide authoritative technical guidance to colleagues and clients on building control mattersStay current with relevant legislation and update procedures accordinglyCollaborate with other technical disciplines and other business units as require
Business Development:
Identify and pursue new business opportunitiesBuild and maintain client relationships to develop a robust project portfolioMarket SOCOTEC''s building regulation and compliance consultancy services effectively
Team Leadership:
Recruit, develop, and retain high-calibre professionalsProvide support, supervision, training, and guidance to team membersConduct performance appraisals and development planning for technical staffFoster a positive team culture that promotes cross-functional collaboration
Quality and Compliance:
Ensure all documentation, records, and filing systems meet quality procedures and contractual requirementsReview new commissions/plans to ensure regulatory complianceConduct or oversee site inspections to verify compliance with regulations
Health and Safety Leadership:
Champion a positive and proactive health and safety culture through exemplary leadershipEnsure compliance with SOCOTEC and client quality, safety, and environmental systemsPromote a culture where safety, workplace health, and environmental responsibility are prioritise
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Full membership of RICS, CABE, or equivalent professional bodyCSCS CardRelevant professional certifications in building control or complianceMinimum 10 years'' experience in building regulations and complianceDemonstrated managerial experience overseeing complex projectsProven track record in building control related services for complex and high-risk buildingsExperience with budgeting and financial managementStrategic thinking and business acumenExceptional leadership and team development abilitiesStrong technical knowledge of building regulations and compliance requirementsExcellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)Client relationship management and business development capabilitiesAnalytical and problem-solving skillsProject management expertise
