As Legal Director, you will be the principal in-house legal advisor for Board Intelligence Group, a fast-growing B2B SaaS business with offices in London, Stockholm, and Mauritius. You’ll lead on all legal business matters, work with a small team, act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, and coordinate with external counsel as needed. You will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, drive key business priorities, and provide proactive, actionable legal guidance that delivers commercial value. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to shape the legal function.Main Responsibilities
Advise the business on a broad range of legal issues, including SaaS agreements, government and regulatory compliance, data privacy, risk mitigation, and intellectual property.Work with the Contracts Manager to prioritise, review, and negotiate customer, supplier, partnership, and technology agreements.Oversee and coordinate with external counsel on specialist matters including complex regulatory issues and international expansion.Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including GDPR and other data privacy frameworks relevant to SaaS businesses and its primary markets.Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments affecting the SaaS and technology sectors, including the EU AI Act and similar emerging regulations.Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to manage legal risk and support business objectives.Develop strategies to engage the business and its employees to provide actionable guidance on regulations that impact the business; bridge the gap between legal and non-legal professionals; provide training on legal and compliance topics.Support the business in managing and protecting its intellectual property portfolio.Take on the responsibilities of Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the UK company.Requirements
Qualified lawyer (England and Wales or overseas jurisdiction).Previous in-house legal experience, ideally within a B2B technology or SaaS environment.Strong working knowledge of commercial contracts and data privacy.Experience advising on regulatory compliance and risk management in a fast-paced, high-growth business.Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage competing priorities.Desirable
Familiarity with international legal frameworks and cross-border transactions.Exposure to MandA and rapid scale-ups; ideal but not essential.Corporate governance experience is not required but a plus.Benefits
