SEND Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Primary School - Colchester
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND teaching assistant to join our successful three form entry mainstream primary school in Colchester. The Role
As a SEND teaching assistant, you will support pupils with a range of special educational needs within a mainstream primary setting. You may work on a one-to-one basis with a specific pupil or provide support to a small group of children, helping them access learning and achieve their individual targets.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEND during lessons and school activities
- Delivering targeted interventions and small group support sessions
- Working closely with class teachers to adapt learning activities and resources
- Encouraging pupils'' confidence, independence, and participation in learning
- Supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Assisting pupils in overcoming barriers to learning
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
- Helping to create an inclusive and positive classroom environment
- Contributing to high standards of education and training across the school
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting
- Is patient, adaptable, and resilient
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is committed to helping children achieve their full potential
- Has a genuine passion for education and training
Hours and Pay
- Full-time position, 5 days per week
- Working hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
- Daily rate: -95100 per day, dependent on experience
