Duty Solicitor

OverviewA successful and established criminal practice is opening a new office in Coventry and is seeking a Duty Solicitor to join their growing team. This is a rare chance to help build a new office, shape a team, and make a real impact, all with the backing of an experienced wider practice. The ideal candidate:
Duty Solicitor qualified and Police Station Accredited
Has a strong local reputation and following
Has management experience or is keen to develop these skills
Is excited to get involved in marketing, promotion, and developing services locally
You’ll also have the chance to work on Crown Court Litigation and Private Magistrates Court work, with opportunities for career progression, work-related bonuses, and internal training
Participation in the out-of-hours Police Station rota will be required
Key Responsibilities
Meeting clients and providing expert criminal law advice
Managing your own caseload from police station to trial
Drafting applications, documents, and letters
Preparing evidence and responding to prosecution witness statements
Representing clients in court and instructing barristers
Attending the police station when required
Travelling across the area to represent clients
Supervising and supporting junior colleagues
Other duties as directed by management
Person Specification
Duty Solicitor Status and Police Station Accreditation must
Self-motivated, commercially minded, and proactive
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage high workloads in a fast-paced environment
Strong client care ethos and commitment to Criminal Law
Flexible, resilient, and a “can-do” attitude
Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software
