SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (EHCP Support)

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Start Date: Urgent / Immediate Salary: -26,000 - -30,206 per annum (Pro-rata, dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary (until July 2026)



The Role

Are you a dedicated and compassionate educator looking to make a life-changing difference for a child with additional needs? We are seeking a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Preston immediately.

In this vital role, you will provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). You will be the primary anchor for this student, ensuring they can safely access the curriculum, develop their social skills, and reach the ambitious targets set out in their EHCP.



Key Responsibilities

  • Tailored 1:1 Support: Implement specific strategies and interventions outlined in the pupil''s EHCP to support their academic and emotional growth.

  • Curriculum Adaptation: Work alongside the Class Teacher to differentiate and adapt learning materials, making them accessible and engaging for the student.

  • Behaviour & Regulation: Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to support the pupil''s emotional regulation and well-being.

  • Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed records of the pupil''s achievements and challenges, contributing directly to Annual EHCP Reviews and parent meetings.

  • Collaborative Care: Liaise regularly with the SENCo, parents, and external professionals (such as Speech and Language Therapists) to ensure a holistic approach.



What We''re Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically those with an EHCP (e.g., ASD, ADHD, or SEMH).

  • Qualifications: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to build a deep, trusting rapport with a child.

  • Attributes: Exceptional patience, resilience, and a "solutions-focused" attitude.

  • Availability: Ready for an urgent start and committed to the role until July 2026.
