This appointment is for a full time 1.0 WTE Fixed Term Consultant Psychiatrist who will be responsible for providing Liaison Psychiatry input to the Working Age Liaison Psychiatry Service in RSCH (8PA direct clinical care and 2PA supporting professional activities). This vacancy follows an expansion in the service and is a new role.This is an exciting opportunity to join the rapidly expanding Liaison Psychiatry services of Surrey and Borders NHS Foundation Trust. The directorate provides Liaison Psychiatry services within the five major district general hospitals in Surrey. There has been a considerable amount of focus and interest in Liaison services by commissioners, and the successful candidate will be joining the department at a crucial period of positive service development. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with managers on directly influencing the delivery of services to the Acute Hospital to suit local needs.Our offer

Qualifications
Consultant with licence to practice in good standing with the GMCApproval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalentMB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualificationIncluded on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.Relevant higher degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualificationsMRCPsych or equivalentClinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledgeAbility to manage clinical complexity and uncertaintyMake decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of othersAbility to meet duties under MHA and MCAExperience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and Specialty teams.Knowledge of psychiatric provisionPublished audit or research projectsAcademic Skills and Lifelong Learning
