The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of a high-value portfolio of projects.
This portfolio forms a critical part of the business, focusing on the assessment of high-hazard weapons, munitions, and energetics through live testing and the generation of assurance-based evidence.
This is a highly visible role where you will lead complex, safety-critical projects, working at the interface of operations, engineering, and programme delivery to ensure activities are conducted safely, effectively, and in line with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional project teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers
- Deliver projects to agreed baselines across time, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate financial and resource forecasts aligned to delivery expectations
- Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, including lifecycle and assurance reviews
- Contribute to bid activity and opportunity development, supporting future growth
- Provide clear and consistent reporting to programme and portfolio leadership
- Work closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure safety remains paramount
About You
What will you bring:
- Proven experience delivering complex projects, programmes, or portfolios
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence, align, and motivate teams
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, including customer-facing roles
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution capability
- Experience supporting business development and bid activities, including planning and costing
Essential Qualifications
- Demonstrable capability aligned to APM (or equivalent project management qualification)
Additional Information
- Regular travel to customer sites (including Bristol and other UK locations) is required
- This role operates within a highly regulated, safety-critical defence environment
- Flexibility and adaptability are essential
