Part time Practice Nurse

OverviewJob summary: We wish to recruit a part-time Practice Nurse to join Amersham Vale Practice in Deptford, Lewisham. We are a 16,000-patient training practice based in the Waldron Health Centre, a modern, spacious facility in the heart of Deptford, North Lewisham. Deptford is a dynamic, diverse, culturally rich area with pockets of deprivation alongside new developments. We are opposite New Cross station and within walking distance of Deptford DLR, Deptford station and New Cross Gate station.
Our practice values kindness, approachability, friendliness and compassion, alongside high standards of clinical care. We are a training practice with a diverse clinical team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners and a Clinical Pharmacist. We very much work as a team and value everyone''s contributions, regardless of level of experience. Amersham Vale nurses are well respected within the team and have access to protected study time, mandatory training, weekly nursing meetings and regular nurse forums run by a CCG lead. Responsibilities
Implement and evaluate treatment plans for patients with long-term conditions
Long-term disease management, depending on level of experience and training, including but not limited to
Take and test pathology samples from patients for analysis (blood, sputum, urine, etc.)
Care for patients with uncomplicated wounds, including:
Removal of sutures
Wound assessment
Wound cleaning and dressing
Management of burns and scalds
Ulcer care (pressure dressings training not needed)
Implement and participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes
Provide routine immunisations and related procedures
Provide routine ear care such as irrigation
Where qualified, prescribe medication within your areas of competence
Perform other clinical duties as required, within the scope of the practice nurse''s competencies and training
Qualifications and ExperienceQualifications
Essential: Registered Nurse
Desirable: Postgraduate diploma or degree – primary care; Non-medical prescriber
Experience
Essential: Experience of working in a primary care environment
Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse
Experience of chronic disease management
Experience of infection prevention and control measures
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Essential: Wound care and removal of sutures/staples; Venepuncture; New patient medicals; Chaperone procedure; Requesting pathology tests and processing results; Travel medicine; Diabetes; Hypertension; Asthma; CHD; Immunisations (childhood, covid, flu, routine); Hormone injections/implants, B12; Cervical sample taking with cytology knowledge and HPV updates; Womens health (contraception, etc.); Understanding evidence-based practice; Broad knowledge of clinical governance; Ability to record accurate clinical notes; Ability to work within own scope of practice and know when to refer to GPs; Understanding of infection prevention and control measures; Knowledge of health promotion strategies; Understand the requirement for PGDs and policies
