Location: Stockport, England, United Kingdom. Thales UK seeks a Field Support Engineer to supervise deployment, setting to work and in-service support of Sonar and/or Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers'' ships/submarines. ResponsibilitiesSupport to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms in defect rectification, including fault diagnosis, testing, and acceptance trials in harbour and at sea.
Provide on-call telephone support to customers.
Write site visit reports.
Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms during maintenance periods / refits, including pre-upkeep maintenance assessment (PUMA) inspections and supervising scheduled maintenance activities.
Advise the Service Delivery Manager of stores required for the refit.
Escalate engineering issues to the Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required.
Write post-maintenance reports.
Prepare weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager and Field Services Manager detailing activities, upcoming work, successes, challenges, opportunities, and required support; ensure compliance with export control rules and ITAR.
Perform additional ad-hoc duties aligned with the role.
QualificationsSignificant track record of performance in a relevant engineering discipline
Preferably experienced with complex systems (electrical, electronic, and hydraulic)
Ability to lead in resolving issues, problems, questions, and conflicts for the team
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels
High level of self-motivation and ability to work effectively under pressure
Security and compliance
The successful candidate will need full Security Clearance (SC). UK government references and guidance apply, including evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the UK.
