The post holder will act as the Senior Pharmacist for Clinical Trials and will be responsible for:• Supporting the Lead Pharmacist for Clinical Trials in the provision of leadership and support to the pharmacy clinical trials team to deliver an advanced pharmacy service for clinical trials at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (MEH).• Ensuring that all clinical trials within the Trust are pharmaceutically managed and maintained and that all current legislation is followed.• Participating in the provision of a comprehensive pharmaceutical service to the Trust.• Providing expert advice on pharmaceutical issues related to clinical trials.• Undertaking medicine safety research and medicines utilisation audits.• Providing training to pharmacy, medical, nursing, optometry, and other relevant trust staff on clinical trial medicines and processes.Main duties of the job

The post holder will:• Support the lead pharmacist for clinical trials in the development and delivery of the pharmaceutical support service in respect of clinical trials.• Manage the staff of the pharmacy clinical trials team.• Develop relevant financial and KPI reports relating to clinical trials and present these at relevant meetings.• Be responsible for supervising monitoring visits from commercial and non-commercial organisations.• Ensure safe and secure storage and handling of clinical trial medicines in the Trust.• Provide education and training to trust staff.• Regularly initiate medicines utilisation audits.• Act as Practice Supervisor for Diploma and Trainee Pharmacists and an Educational Supervisor (Tutor) for these programmes if required.Working for our organisation

Education / Qualification

Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalentMembership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy at diploma level or equivalent knowledge/qualificationGood Clinical Practice/ Good Manufacturing Practice training/ certificateExperience

Previous relevant hospital pharmacy dispensary and/or specialist/clinical trials unit experienceManagement / Supervision of staffExperience of planning and implementing clinical or non-clinical policies, procedures and guidelinesInvolvement in clinical trials, clinical trials legislation and clinical auditsInvolvement in the work of Ethics CommitteesExperience of RandD in hospital pharmacyExperience as a trainee pharmacist and/or clinical diploma mentor/tutorKnowledge

Able to influence and negotiate with multidisciplinary professionals on clinical decisionsUnderstanding and awareness of current national standards, legislations, good clinical trial practiceBe able to provide highly complex information on medicines use, clinical pharmacy and financial issues to senior consultants and managersKnowledge of EMIS Pharmacy SystemUnderstanding of key NHS issues in relation to Hospital Pharmacy and able to reconcile national priorities with local realitiesSkills
