Overview
Whipps Cross is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work on Peace Ward at Whipps Cross University Hospital. This post is open to individuals who are both experienced Healthcare Support Workers or those new to care. Individuals that are new to care will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.We are looking for compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care in a hospital setting.Responsibilities
Undertaking a range of delegated clinical tasks, such as:Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)Assisting with personal care and mobilitySupporting patients’ nutritional and hydration needsUndertaking a limited range of delegated duties (e.g. taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)Simple wound dressingsStrong teamworking and communication skills to ensure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of patientsAn excellent communicator, they have experience of working in a team, to ensure the comfort, wellbeing and safety of our patients.About the Ward and Trust
The postholder will work within the Peace Ward, a 16-bedded acute stroke ward. The Acute Stroke Ward provides immediate and comprehensive care to patients experiencing or recovering from stroke, with a multidisciplinary team committed to rapid assessment, acute treatment and rehabilitation planning.Barts Health has a diverse and busy service that may require staff to be flexible in their working. The post holder may be required to work within a challenging clinical environment and may undertake shift work which may include nights and weekends.The post holder will be an integral part of a team actively meeting patient and service needs in accordance with agreed standards under the direct supervision of the ward manager. The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality are priority.Career progression
This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.Organisation context
