Senior Specialist Dietitian (Diabetes)The closing date is 21 September 2025.Are you keen to be part of a specialist dietetic team? We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and confident individual and are currently welcoming applications for an experienced Dietitian to join our team. The post holder will provide a clinical service to patients attending a combination of face to face, video, and telephone outpatient clinics, to include Gestational Diabetes, Type I and Type II Diabetes. DAFNE experience and accreditation would be desirable. There is the opportunity to undertake quality improvement and service development working alongside our other Band 7 Diabetes Dietitian.You should have leadership skills, the ability to work well within teams and be able to manage your time effectively.The post holder will provide cover to patients within their care pathway in the outpatient setting. Effective communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work effectively within teams are essential. Thinking differently with a focus on quality, efficiency and productivity are central to the culture of the dietetic team. We are a forward-thinking department of over 50 Dietitians and dietetic assistants, and are committed to professional development. You will be involved in student training initiatives.This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.Main duties of the job

To provide a dietetic service to patients requiring specialist diabetes advice within diabetes services in outpatient clinics and group sessions.To provide ongoing support to patients through assessments, by telephone, virtual mediums and written communication to patients.To work as a contributing member of the diabetes multi-disciplinary team and attend meetings and training where appropriate.To ensure that clinical service delivery is research based and conforms to best practice guidelines.To plan, develop, deliver and evaluate teaching sessions for nursing, medical and other HCPs.To ensure work is in line with Departmental, Trust and National Dietetic standardsTo provide formal and informal training and education sessions to specialist and non-specialist staff at all levels within and external to the Trust.Provisional interview date: mid-late September 2025About us

Knowledge and Qualifications

Four year degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalentHCPC registered (Dietitian)Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent associationPost registration training in Cognitive Behaviour TherapyPost graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG course, paediatric/renal modulesExperience

Clinical experience in the specialist area of Diabetes.Clinical experience in the specialist dietetic field of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and hybrid closed-loop systemSound knowledge of current issues relating to specialist area of dieteticsInvolvement in relevant specialist interest groupSkills and Abilities communication

Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience of multidisciplinary teamworkAwareness of need for confidentiality and issues of consentPersonal and People Development
