The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a Northampton-based Principal Designer (CDM) and Health and Safety Advisor to play a pivotal role in embedding health and safety excellence across their projects. This role will involve working closely with clients, design teams and contractors to ensure compliance with CDM 2015 regulations and the safe delivery of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Act as Principal Designer on construction projects from conception through to completion, including handover of the Health and Safety File.
Prepare and manage all CDM documentation, including Pre-Construction Information, Design Risk Registers and Construction Phase Plans.
Provide clear CDM and health and safety advice to clients, project teams and contractors throughout project lifecycles.
Review and assess contractor risk assessments, method statements and plans, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Carry out site inspections, audits and reporting, identifying improvements and promoting good practice.
Support the wider Health and Safety team, contributing to policy documents, internal audits, business development activities and client engagement.
Champion a culture of health and safety, ensuring risks are effectively managed in pre-construction and construction phases.
About YouEssential Experience and Qualifications
Experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
Proven track record as a Principal Designer on large and complex construction projects.
Degree, HND or HNC in a construction-related discipline.
Knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations, construction processes and risk management.
CSCS card.
Full UK driving licence (own vehicle with business insurance).
Membership of the Association for Project Safety (Incorporated or above).
Additional professional memberships (e.g. IOSH).
