OverviewFlood Risk Engineer – Engineer or Senior LevelLocation: London (with flexible/hybrid working options)

Join a specialist consultancy shaping the future of flood risk and water management. This civil and environmental engineering consultancy focuses on water and environmental projects and works across the built and natural environment. They’re seeking an experienced Flood Risk Engineer to join the team at Engineer or Senior Engineer level and support projects across the UK.

What You’ll DoAs part of the Flood Risk Team, you’ll contribute to delivering high-quality solutions across a variety of sectors and scales. Your responsibilities include:

Delivering Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies, river modelling, flood defence design and hydraulic modelling.

Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders to design practical and sustainable solutions.

Using tools such as QGIS, AutoCAD, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS and TUFLOW to assess and deliver impactful results.

Preparing high-quality technical reports, drawings and documentation.

(Senior level) Leading projects, managing clients and mentoring junior engineers.

Working on related areas such as water neutrality, environmental permitting, nutrient neutrality assessments, and EIA support.

What We’re Looking ForRequired

Degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in flood risk or related consultancy work.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience with hydraulic modelling and GIS software.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and report-writing skills.

Desirable

Postgraduate degree and/or working towards chartership (CIWEM or similar).

Full UK driving licence for site visits.

Experience with fee proposals and bid writing (beneficial for senior applicants).
