Supply Desk is currently working with a supportive and well-established school in Marlow Bottom, seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teacher to start as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated educator to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people who require additional support outside of mainstream education.
About the Role:
- Plan and deliver tailored lessons across a range of subjects, adapted to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges
- Create a calm, structured, and safe classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and academic progress
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students and use restorative approaches to manage behaviour
- Work closely with support staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to provide holistic support
- Track student progress, set realistic targets, and celebrate achievements to build self-esteem
- Participate in school life, including enrichment activities and wellbeing initiatives
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (Unqualified Teachers with relevant experience will also be considered)
- Have experience teaching in a PRU, SEMH provision, or alternative education setting
- Be calm, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation and trauma-informed strategies
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Be committed to inclusive education, safeguarding, and student wellbeing
- Show flexibility, creativity, and resilience in adapting teaching to suit individual learner needs
