Health and Safety Manager
to act as an ambassador for health, safety, fire, and environmental compliance across all ABL 1Touch sites in the UK.
Key responsibilities
Establish yourself as the leader for health, safety and fire matters whilst encouraging managerial and supervisory ownership across the portfolio.
Identify the need for, develop, implement, and audit and maintain proportionate health and safety policies and procedures to enable a safe environment for all.
Ensure that the policies in place deliver compliance with UK HandS legislation, including RF(FS)O, HandSWA, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR and CDM regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all ABL1touch locations to provide a consistent level of safety across the portfolio.
Lead significant incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and wider business and multi-site implications are considered.
Devise and deliver a programme of bespoke training sessions suitable for the automotive industry to complement existing online training.
Establish lead authority arrangements for health and safety and fire.
Liaise with external bodies (e.g., HSE, insurers) and internal stakeholders on safety matters as required.
Devise, monitor and report on HandS performance metrics and KPIs. Ensure that information is cascaded through the company and reports are suitable for their intended audience.
Support the development and integration of environmental and sustainability initiatives led by others in the company.
Attend and chair the quarterly Health and Safety meeting and participate in company meetings as required.
Ensure actions are taken when required and followed through to completion.
Skills and experience
NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role within automotive, manufacturing, or engineering sectors
Experience in managing safety across multi-site operations
Strong working knowledge of UK HandS legislation and best practices
Experience working with enforcement authorities
Awareness of environmental legislation and its application within the body shop environment
Full UK driving licence (travel between sites is required)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in MS Office and HandS management systems
