Teaching Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit
Location: Leicester, LE5
Pay: -90 - -100 per day (PAYE)
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Full-time, 8:30am - 3:30pm | Term-Time Only
Contract: Long-term to permanent

The Role:
Long Term Futures is working with a pupil referral unit (PRU) based in LE5, Leicester, to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant. This specialist setting supports primary-aged pupils (5-11 years) who are currently unable to access mainstream education.

The school is looking for someone confident, patient and consistent to support students with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. The role is initially until the end of the academic year, with a permanent role available after this time.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide 1-1 support for pupils who require help managing behaviour and emotions
• Work closely with individual students or small groups, offering guidance and encouragement
• Help implement positive behaviour strategies and support pupils in regulating their responses
• Build trusted relationships to help students feel safe, calm and ready to learn
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maintain consistent approaches

Who We''re Looking For:

• Experience in education, youth work, residential care or similar roles where behaviour support is key
• A calm, confident and nurturing approach, especially in challenging situations
• Knowledge of behaviour intervention strategies and trauma-informed practice is beneficial
• A strong commitment to helping children with additional needs access meaningful education
