Facilities Assistant

Position: Maintenance and Cleaning Operative Contracted Hours: 37 hours per week, including regular evening/weekend shifts Location: TauntonAbout the Role: We''re looking for a dedicated and proactive individual to join our team as a Maintenance and Cleaning Operative. You''ll play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of Taunton''s public facilities, including public toilets, pavilions, and other community assets. This role will have a direct impact on the town''s environmental standards, cleanliness, and overall well-being.Key Responsibilities:Unlock, clean, inspect, and carry out minor repairs to public toilets and pavilions.Maintain the cleanliness and accessibility of these areas to ensure they''re always in top condition.Respond to graffiti, flyposting, littering, and other maintenance issues as they arise.Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks (water temperature, emergency lights, gas/water/electricity meters, etc.).Assist with town council events, helping with setup, litter picking, and other tasks.Use the council''s IT systems for reporting issues, training, and keeping records.Ensure the council''s vehicles, tools, and equipment are well-maintained and clean.Maintain safety standards with health and safety training, risk assessments, and PPE.Essential Skills and Experience:Experience in cleaning and maintenance roles.Knowledge of health and safety legislation and COSHH.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Basic IT skills ..... full job details .....
