(Site and Office Based)We’re representing a growing Design and Build contractor with a strong reputation for delivering large-scale residential and mixed-use projects across London, typically valued between £20m and £100m. With continued growth, they are now seeking a proactive and technically strong Design Manager to join the team.This isn’t a “postbox” design coordination role. The business wants someone who takes ownership, drives the design process, and brings technical insight from concept to completion – bridging the gap between design and construction.The Role· Lead the design process across major residential and mixed-use schemes.· Run Design Team Meetings, progress reviews, and look-ahead activities.· Coordinate subcontractor packages and regulatory approvals, ensuring timely and compliant delivery.· Develop design strategies with consultants (fire, access/maintenance, energy, buildability, risk).· Maintain compliance trackers for planning conditions, GLA, building control, and warranty requirements.· Balance time between site and office, working closely with contracts managers, project managers, and QS teams.· Act as the primary design contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors.What They’re Looking For· A holistic and proactive Design Manager, not just a coordinator.· Background in architecture or structural engineering is highly desirable.· Strong technical understanding, with the confidence to challenge consultants and drive buildability.· Previous experience with main contractors or DandB firms on complex, multi-storey projects.· Leadership skills to run meetings, manage consultants, and support project delivery teams.Salary and Package· £65,000 – £80,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications).Ready to step into a Design Manager role where you’ll shape projects from start to finish?
