Overview

Senior Estimator (Energy) role at AECOM, Birmingham, United Kingdom. The role takes responsibility for leading best practice estimation on large and complex infrastructure commissions for private and public sector clients, ensuring client objectives are met through a value-added estimation service.Travel flexibility is required; you may travel throughout the UK and abroad as needed to deliver successful projects. The estimation work covers feasibility through to construction estimates and involves alignment with wider commercial functions such as assurance and intelligence. The Commercial and Estimation team is located across the UK; you will be based at a regional office in Birmingham or another suitable location.Responsibilities include leading engagements, liaising with clients and contractors, and mentoring staff to deliver high-quality cost and commercial assurance services.What you’ll do

Develop best-in-class estimation processes and collaborate with sector leads and commercial leads to enhance value optimisation.Develop estimates aligned with wider practices such as carbon considerations and inherent risk for added value.Lead quantum assessments of projects and optioneering/value engineering solutions.Lead the build-up of rates based on known factors and market factors.Support development of budgets, baselines, forecasts, and inherent risk and contingency development.Identify process improvement opportunities.Interface with project staff including cost, commercial, and controls; manage stakeholder expectations through regular communication.Support production of close-out reports and present outputs and recommendations to clients and their supply chain.Lead engagements when travelling to different sites/locations nationally and internationally.Mentor junior staff and upskill internal and external stakeholders in cost and commercial assurance.If you’re passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you to join our team and help uplift communities and enhance lives.Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:Demonstrated ability to lead a sector for estimation (energy, water, rail, etc.) is highly desirable.Experience delivering service excellence to clients and strong communication skills (verbal and written).Experience delivering cost and commercial activities and strong report writing and presentation skills.Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving challenges during delivery.Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with stakeholders of varying seniority; maintain and develop client relationships.Commitment to professional competence and driving performance standards and technical excellence through effective use of practice networks.Ability to support internal teams and manage junior staff on technically complex projects.Identify marketing opportunities and flag potential leads to Directors and Business Development to help develop new business.Additional technical qualifications:Good working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and related processes.Experience of estimation as part of integrated, multi-organisation teams and a client-facing role.Degree qualification in a relevant discipline; professional memberships are an advantage but not essential.Ability to obtain relevant security clearance is desirable.About AECOM
