We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Building Surveyor to join our dynamic and driven construction consultancy. You will work collaboratively with a varied team of construction professionals and stakeholders to deliver projects and professional services safely, on time and within budget, while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.ResponsibilitiesManage projects of varied size and complexity including preparation of project design and specificationsAdvise the client on procurement/contacts and act as the contract administratorPrepare tender documentation, tender reports and recommendations to the clientUndertake day-to-day duties of either the Contractor Administrator or Employers AgentInterpret drawings and designs produced by others and advise on technical detail, analysing the design in accordance with the technical brief, statutory requirements, and client instructionsLead on and undertake condition surveys and liaise with other specialistsCarry out or manage others undertaking measured surveys of existing buildings or sitesUndertake site inspectionsOversee professional matters including but not limited to Party Wall matters, Acquisition and Condition Surveys and DilapidationsKeep Associate Directors fully informed of progressReceive client instructions and agree fee proposals for various projects and professional surveying instructionsMaintain technical working understanding of buildings, construction, management and operations, including their defectsAdvise and report on building defects, maintenance and repairs in a concise and accurate mannerUnderstand statutory approvals processes, including planning, listed building consent and building control approvalsWork within the RIBA Plan of Works framework and oversee multi-disciplinary project teamsUndertake the training and development of othersPrioritise health and safety for yourself and others by following company HandS proceduresContribute to improving social and environmental impactAny other duties as reasonably requiredRequirementsIdeally Chartered accreditation, or working towards (we can support you on your journey to chartership)Ideally degree qualification (RICS accredited or equivalent)Previous experience as a Building SurveyorAbility to deliver larger and more complex projects through the full project lifecycleAbility to delegate tasks to others within the team and support their workSupport junior members of the team with mentoring and developmentDevelopment of leadership and management skillsAbility to manage fees and assist with fee bidsGenerate new work through client relationsAbility to work on own initiative to generate new businessUnderstanding of the account management processAbility to analyse projects and report performance to line managerExcellent knowledge of CDM and construction health and safetyJoining Fulkers means more than just joining a great team — it’s an exciting journey filled with rewarding benefits!33 days holiday (including bank holidays), plus an extra paid day off for your birthday and Christmas shutdownOption to buy or carry over up to 5 additional holiday days annuallyPrivate health cover from day oneEnhanced maternity, paternity, and charitable volunteer leaveAnnual discretionary bonus and salary reviewCompany pension schemeEmployee Assistance ProgramAccess to a wellbeing app and online learning platformCareer development, chartership support and training opportunitiesInternal recruitment referral bonus schemeFulkers Bailey Russell is now a Certified B Corporation, meeting high standards of social and environmental performance.
