Food and Beverage (FandB) Operations Manager

to lead the planning and delivery of catering services across world-famous RHS Flower Shows, including RHS Chelsea Flower Show.Our careers portal here provides a comprehensive overview of what we offer, the teams that work at the RHS and our great benefits.As the driving force behind the FandB offer at our shows, you’ll:Lead the end-to-end delivery of food and beverage services, from pre-show planning to post-show review.Manage robust tender processes to identify and appoint the best catering partners – those who align with our quality, sustainability, and visitor experience goals.Negotiate contracts and commission structures, ensuring the best value for RHS while maintaining premium service standards.Monitor and optimise show performance, including full PandL responsibility and KPI tracking to ensure financial and operational success.Oversee on-site FandB operations, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences, smooth logistics, and seamless collaboration with caterers and internal teams.Champion food safety and hygiene, exceeding all legislative standards. You’ll manage internal audits and liaise with Environmental Health Officers as needed.Support sustainability and local sourcing initiatives across all food outlets, aligning with RHS’s environmental commitments.Work collaboratively with marketing, visitor experience and commercial teams to shape innovative, on-brand FandB offerings that enhance our overall show experience.What we’re looking for:A hands-on operator with a “can do” mindset who’s equally comfortable planning strategically or rolling up their sleeves on-site.Proven experience in delivering high-volume, high-quality catering at large-scale outdoor events, exhibitions, or venues – ideally in greenfield or temporary environments.Expertise in FandB tender processes, including writing, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret and act on financial reports, drive revenue, and manage costs.A natural relationship-builder who can influence and collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and senior stakeholders alike.A deep understanding of food hygiene, safety legislation, and operational risk management in high-footfall environments.Passion for innovation in food trends, sustainability, and creating unforgettable visitor experiences.About usTo work for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is to join a thriving charity, whose mission is to be there for everyone on their lifelong adventure with gardening.
