Paralegal

Ascent is one of the UK''s largest specialist debt recovery law firms with an excellent reputation in the market dealing with debt recovery, mediation, litigation, field services, enforcement, and mortgage lender services. The Paralegal will support solicitors and legal teams in managing litigation cases from pre-action through to trial and post-judgment. This role involves preparing legal documents, conducting research, liaising with clients and courts, and ensuring the smooth progression of cases in line with legal procedures and firm standards.Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Independently manage all components of a litigation-based debt recovery process through professional telephone engagement, ensuring compliance with legal protocols and representing client interests with accuracy, discretion, and integrityCompile witness statements or completion of court documentation for clients and customers as required as part of the recovery processEnsure all work undertaken is in line with internal and client service level agreementsLiaise with external third-party companies, agents or other representing parties as requiredTreat all customers fairly, professionally and act within legislation, compliance and codes of practiceIn addition to the above, the Paralegal may be required to carry out any other reasonable request as required by the Team Leader/Head of DepartmentAnswer client queries and provide status updates/advice in a professional and efficient manner whether this is via email communication or verbally via the telephoneEssential — Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Law degree or equivalentKnowledge of Scottish law and legal systemComputer literate in all Microsoft Office programsStrong attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsComfortable handling large workload under time constraintsStrong organisational skillsDesirable

As part of the Ascent on-boarding process all successful applicants are required to complete the groups employment screening process. Training will be conducted in the Manchester office.
