Consultant Psychiatrists - Adult Mental Health Inpatients

OverviewWe are recruiting 2 full-time Consultant Psychiatrist posts to work on Elm Ward and Maple Ward, the two acute admission wards at West Park Hospital, Darlington.
Elm Ward is a 20-bed female acute inpatient ward and Maple Ward is a 20-bed male acute inpatient ward located on the same site. The wards are supported by two Consultant Psychiatrists each and there are 4 beds commissioned by the Ministry of Defence across the two wards. The post holders will be expected to provide clinical input to approximately 10 to 12 inpatients on Elm and Maple wards, depending on acuity. The service operates within the Inpatient Team and is developing the Purposeful In-Patient Admissions model and the Productive Ward concept.
Main dutiesThe principal duty of Consultants is to support the Inpatient Team. The post holders will work with four Consultant Psychiatrists (4 WTE) and a Consultant Nurse to provide a flexible service that supports recovery for service users. They will provide leadership to the multi-disciplinary team alongside the team manager and contribute to service development. They will contribute to clinical governance and have responsibility for setting and maintaining standards, with a commitment to quality improvement.

Included on the GMC Specialist Register for General Psychiatry OR within six months
Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months
Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months

In good standing with GMC with respect to warnings/conditions on practice
