This role will play a key part in developing future natural capital accounts aligned with international statistical standards. You will lead early-stage scoping work on data availability, quality, and methodologies for estimating renewable resource stocks with an initial focus on timber and fish. What you''ll do Identify, collect, and review data from government departments, agencies, research bodies, and charities. Conduct literature reviews of academic and grey sources on natural resource stock estimation. Assess existing data on resource stocks, harvesting rates, and regeneration rates. Identify gaps in current data and evaluate potential methodologies to estimate missing information. Engage with data providers to understand available datasets and potential for future collaboration. Produce clear, concise documentation outlining findings, recommendations, and viable strategies for future measurement work.
