About the roleThe Department of Mathematics has a popular undergraduate programme with around 900 enrolled students. Supported by a £500k grant to redevelop our mathematics programmes, the department is seeking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Mathematics Education. The main duties of the post will be to develop and teach undergraduate modules in Mathematics and specifically in Mathematics Education. The postholder will work with the department''s outreach teaching fellow to manage and develop the department''s relationship with the Imperial College Mathematics School in North London. The postholder can expect to be involved in all aspects of the department''s teaching, e.g. as a personal tutor and project supervisor, and by contributing to the efficient running of teaching within the department.What you would be doingThis role has a substantial curriculum development component. You will work closely with the project team and with students as partners to develop a novel statistics curriculum that is collaborative, discovery-based and informed by global challenges. You will carry out appropriate scholarly activities to develop your disciplinary pedagogic knowledge, including the evaluation of the redeveloped programmes.You will teach within both established and new programmes of study, taking responsibility for individual modules by delivering lectures and running problem classes, piloting newly developed resources as appropriate.
