Trainee Estimator

Location: Finchley, North London
 

Overview:

An excellent opportunity for a Trainee Estimator to join a growing construction and building services company based in Finchley. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in estimating, with full training provided and clear progression opportunities.

You will support the estimating team in preparing accurate costings and tenders for a range of projects, while gaining hands-on experience within a fast-paced commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing cost estimates for construction and building projects
• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
• Measure quantities and support take-offs
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
• Help compile and submit tender packages
• Maintain and update project cost databases and records
• Support senior estimators with ongoing projects and pricing exercises
• Ensure all work is completed in line with company procedures and deadlines

Skills & Experience:

• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good attention to detail
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and basic IT systems
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• A keen interest in construction or building services

Desirable (Not Essential):

• Previous experience in construction, labouring, or administration
• Knowledge of estimating or cost planning
• Relevant qualification (e.g. Construction, Quantity Surveying)
