Grounds Maintenance Operative

Location : Exeter

Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30am-4:30pm

Pay: -13.26

MUST HAVE DRIVING LICENCE (no more than 6 points)

Role purpose:
To assist in routine grounds maintenance operations (grass and hedge cutting, pruning, planting and weeding), as directed, throughout the district of East Devon.

Core accountabilities:

• Use mechanical plant, equipment and vehicles; assist teams throughout the District as directed, achieving StreetScene standards and objectives.
• Grass cutting and strimming.
• Hedge pruning.
• Digging, bedding, planting and watering.
• Hoeing and weeding.
• Acting as sports attendant during weekends as required.
• Support the provision of a customer focused service.
• Support the Council''s approach to equalities, including the need for safety of children and other vulnerable people.
• Take personal responsibility for the relevant aspects Health and Safety of self and others when at work.
• Act in accordance with the Council''s policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution.
• Assist in the evaluation and management of risk within the service.

Requirements of the role:

Must have driving licence (ideally clean)

Be able to operate machinery (training provided)

Be physically fit as the role is very physical

Have some grounds maintenance experience

Able to work both as a team and on your own at times
