DUTIES:

• Source products in line with company quality and pricing goals
• Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and terms
• Track market trends and seasonal availability to inform purchasing decisions
• Forecast demand using market insights and sales data
• Manage stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory
• Work with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure efficient delivery
• Maintain and build strong supplier relationships, including audits and evaluations
• Ensure full compliance with food safety standards
• Align procurement with customer demand by working closely with Sales
• Prepare and manage procurement budgets
• Identify new sourcing opportunities and support seasonal/promotional campaigns
• Resolve supply issues including delays or quality concerns

THE CANDIDATE:

• Experience in buying, procurement, or a similar purchasing role
• Ideally experience within the foodservice and wholesale industry
• Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills
• In-depth understanding of seasonal produce cycles and market dynamics
• Confident using inventory software and Microsoft Office applications
• Organised and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
• Able to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards
• Willingness to travel for supplier visits and trade events
• Existing network within the fresh produce industry is advantageous
• Understanding of logistics and supply chain processes
