Job DescriptionAbout Open VisaNet

As Visa continues to innovate and evolve to meet ever changing needs of the global payments ecosystem, we are developing Open VisaNet (OVN), the next generation payments processing platform that will build on VisaNet’s success. This leverages modern architecture and development practices, core enhancements and the latest technologies to meet current and future requirements of our product teams, clients, and partners.

Responsibilities

Reporting to Sr. Director of Architecture, the Senior Consultant Architect is responsible for service and platform architecture for Open VisaNet’s core payment processing stack.

Specific Responsibilities Include

Leverage payment processing expertise to ideate, design, and develop future OVN products and enhancements.

Architect and implement highly available, scalable, cost effective and secure AWS cloud solutions.

Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles to ensure best practices.

Lead migration of on-premises applications to AWS.

Oversee deployment of serverless and microservices architectures.

Implement AWS security best practices including IAM, KMS, WAF, and encryption.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.

Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.

Implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.

Automate monitoring and logging with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config.

Conduct performance tuning and cost optimization of AWS workloads.

Use AWS Trusted Advisor to identify opportunities for improvement.

Collaborate with product leadership to formulate and define requirements, facilitating the development of technical solutions across VisaNet systems.

Develop detailed technical approach documents for projects, covering system and application development considering intersections with other initiatives and platforms.

Secondary Responsibilities

Provide subject matter expertise across the organization in the areas of AWS cloud architecture.

Foster collaboration across development, infrastructure, operations, and security teams

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to develop the most cost-effective, resilient, and secure solutions.

Stay updated with new technologies and incorporate them into strategic planning and roadmap efforts

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

QualificationsBasic Qualifications

Relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Science, or Math

Requires 8+ years of experience, including 3+ years in Payments or Technology focused on transaction processing services.

Experience in designing solutions for secure, scalable, and highly available systems is necessary.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are required.

Technical skills:

Strong expertise in AWS services: EC2, EKS, S3, MSK, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB.

Proficiency in network design within AWS including load balancing, VPN, and Direct Connect.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools: CloudFormation, Terraform.

Strong knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).

Knowledge of CI/CD tools and automation frameworks.

Strong coding skills (Python, Golang, C/C++).

Solid understanding of security, compliance, and governance in AWS.

Distributed system architecture and technologies, Kafka, gRPC, REST

NoSQL and RDBMS experience
