An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic and forward-thinking construction team, delivering a wide range of high-quality residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

In this senior role, you will lead all commercial aspects of your projects, ensuring cost efficiency, contract compliance, and client satisfaction. You will also play a key part in supporting and mentoring junior staff, while working closely with project and site teams.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Duties

  • Lead the negotiation, appointment, and management of subcontractor packages from inception to final account.
  • Take ownership of all commercial communications and contractual matters with clients.
  • Prepare and submit accurate valuations and variation claims throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce and maintain monthly cost reports in line with budget expectations and project performance.
  • Build strong working relationships with Contracts Managers and site teams to ensure smooth and high-quality project delivery.
  • Identify and address any cost-related issues early to minimise financial risk.
  • Support and oversee junior commercial staff, helping guide their development and performance on your projects.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Carry out other tasks as required in line with the role.

Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • 10+ years post-graduate experience, preferably in residential and commercial construction
  • Proven experience managing project finances, subcontractors, and client-facing responsibilities
  • Strong background in tendering, estimating, and contract negotiation
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction contracts such as JCT, NEC, and PWC
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant commercial software
  • Full, clean driving licence
